As a Superintendent, you will perform tasks related to the field management on heavy civil, underground, and highway construction projects. The primary responsibilities require sound technical and field level (hands-on) knowledge of heavy construction projects. To be successful, the Superintendent requires significant experience in selecting potential employees, evaluation and management of employees, project scheduling, and the efficient utilization of assigned project resources.
Responsible for controlling costs and maintaining profitability within the Superintendent’s discipline and the project overall
Works with other discipline superintendents on complex projects to achieve project goals and milestones
Examines drawings and specifications for various work tasks and ensure current information is passed down to assigned foremen
Schedules crews according to available work for the project and coordinate with General Superintendent to ensure that required equipment and materials necessary to complete the task are available
Manage subcontractors daily to ensure compliance with specifications and project schedule
Ensure that daily and weekly labor and equipment reporting is completed and submitted within the designated timeframe
Conducts regular inspections of all craftwork and quality as well as ensures installation as per specifications
Assists foremen in maintaining a safe workplace by enforcing Company and project-specific safety programs
Monitor timely delivery of necessary materials
Schedules project equipment to assure continued productivity, releasing equipment when completed with project
Conducts regular safety meetings with craft employees addressing specific work areas and conditions that require attention stressing compliance with Company and regulatory safety procedures
Reviews project schedule and cost reports with Project Manager as required to monitor financial and completion status of project
Recognizing, documenting, and reporting delays to Project Manager
Coordinates with engineers, client/owner, inspectors, etc. to isolate problems and assists in developing solutions to these problems
Coordinates work activities and installations with other craft supervision to assure productivity and to eliminate conflicts in the field
Ensure training and development of craft supervisors and employees
Promote positive employee relations with all employees and management by treating all employees with dignity and respect
Ensure subordinate personnel comply with company policies and procedures
Administer discipline as needed in a fair and consistent manner
Resolve/diffuse issues using open communication with employees and management
Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
Knowledge of construction safety and current federal and OSHA requirements
Broad knowledge of construction methods
Working knowledge of computers is desirable
Maintains knowledge of Eutaw’s company values and strategic plan
Requirements
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a construction-related field from an accredited institution is desired but not required
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a craft supervisory/management role as a craft foreman
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Must be able to pass a background investigation as required
Must be willing to travel to projects for performance on an as-needed basis
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications for heavy civil, underground, highway, and bridge construction projects
